THE CHARIOT LYRICS

1. Forget

Don't stick around
Don't stick around and watch it.
We can't offer questions to the answers that you're giving.
(Understand it) We can't make it perfect.
Don't stick around
Don't stick around and watch it.
We can't offer questions to the answers that you're giving.
(Understand it) We can't make it perfect.
Don't stick around
Don't stick around and watch it.
We can't offer questions to the answers that you're giving.
(Understand it) We can't make it perfect.

We are the (trees), we are the (ghosts).
(Perfect) Let us be heard, now it's our turn.
(Perfect) Promises
We can't make it perfect.
I cannot fit into your skin.
I cannot fit into your skin.
I cannot fit.
Perfect, go forth, stay gold, stay yours.
My path has already been taken.
My path has already been taken.

Don't stick around
Don't stick around and watch it.
We can't offer questions to the answers that you're giving.
Understand it, we can't make it perfect.

Patience my dear, the water's coming.
Rest with peace.

Don't stick around
Don't stick around and watch it.
We can't offer questions to the answers that you're giving.
Watch it, don't stick around
Don't stick around and watch it.
We can't offer questions to the answers that you're giving.

Don't stick around
Don't stick around and watch it.
We can't offer questions to the answers that you're giving.
Watch it, imagine all the people...

Take your hand from the grave and keep your place.
Some dragons are misunderstood.
Take your hand from the grave and keep your place.
Some dragons are misunderstood.
Take your hand from the grave and keep your place.
Some dragons are misunderstood.

2. Not

Taking off her "face".
I don't think we have met.
Sounds different than the beat
Your heart used to make.

Let's recollect all our thoughts,
We've never been so apart.
Maybe I could change.
Poison takes in vain.

At day, it feels a lot like love.
I know at night, it feels a lot like blood.
(Your portrait smiles in vain).
Panic darling.
Dancing with the mistress in the blue dress.
(Portrait smiles in vain, portrait smiles)

Stand in line, turn and draw.
Stand in line, turn and draw.
Stand in line, turn and draw.
Stand in line, turn and draw.
Stand in line, turn and draw.
Stand in line, turn and draw.
Stand in line, turn and draw.
Stand in line, turn and draw.

She smiles in french but her arms are crossed. (Stand in line, turn and draw.)
She's changed her name to a heart. (Stand in line, turn and draw.)
That speaks but it does not beat. (Stand in line, turn and draw.)
All the flashes are blinding. (Stand in line, turn and draw.)
What started out as a hope for a different world. (Stand in line, turn and draw.)
It's now the sand that you're sinking in. (Stand in line, turn and draw.)
Once everyone has taken pieces of your design, (Stand in line, turn and draw.)
It's hard to recognize. (Stand in line, turn and draw.)

Rejoice.

It's a lions den,
It's a lions den,
It's a lions den,
it is all a lie.

I used to live the casual life like you, now my screen is crystal clear with a life like view and I've never been more ashamed, I wish that I could see the sunlight too. I should've covered up my eyes when that wish came true. Innocent and golden but its blocked in a display. They're saving up to take me home and write down what I say.
If I could change the way I spoke, then I would speak away the darkness of the past and guide myself away from all the cameras in my path.
In my pa-
In my-

3. Your

Oh busy, busy bee,
Walking to and fro.
What if we close our eyes?
What if we don't wake up?
Oh busy, busy bee,
Walking to and fro.
What if we close our eyes?
What if we don't wake up?
Oh busy, busy bee,
Walking to and fro.
What if we close our eyes?
What if we don't wake up?

4. First

Sing it.
Singing a different song.
Make it.
Guess who will play along.
I can't help looking at me.
C'est La Vie.
My hands are free as can be.
C'est La Vie.
Wanted: Passion.
Wasted and hopeless.
Makeshift glory,
Praises, fortress, blame me.
How can I speak on the other side?
How can I speak on the other side?
We cannot be inside this war until we bleed and make it
Louder. Louder. Louder. Louder. Louder. Louder. Louder. Louder.

With various degrees of love and of hate.
With a gun strapped to your side, I believe you have your faith.
I move onward with a trumpet and a voice
And a ghost inside my head and the past is noise.

5. Love

Victim, my friend, get out! Dancing and shaking and most of all, electric.
Lights on: Lights off. Everyone hit the ground. she was beautiful like cancer.
She was beautiful, but she helped you into the ground. Mayday! Mayday!
A heart-shaped enemy, never underestimate. Samson was impressed as well. I helped you carry all the dead folks that we knew, but you fell in love. You fell asleep and strait into the ground she marches on, one by one.
I open up the earth and let myself in. I bleed into the dirt, all in all, my friend, I am giving in. Wake up! She marches on one by one. she is the wind, the setting sun. death in death, love lost. They lost their voice in the choir.

6. Speak

Lovers, beg your forgiveness right now.
Fathers, speak to your kids, right now.
To the prince, to the king, to the fathers of the free,
beg for your workers, and pray to God for me.
Bleeding hearts meet bleeding crowns.
All hope, is only around, right now.
Prisoners of love, forgive them, right now, and speak.

7. In

We cant let this be us, "My heart is in the sand." Let love close your eyes.
Let love open your hands. You can't live on the streets and change not your desire. Let love take you under. I'm in love with a bottle of grace, who am I to think you ain't, I'd be lying to you if I said my heart was up for all to see. because, I'm not talking about making lovers out of golden picturesque sunsets. I want to be the one who can bring it to the streets and to the fixed and the victim-esque.
We are all capable of love. We are all capable of cancer.
Shake it off, work it out, and bury it. All you need is love. Love is all you need. (Let love take you under!) This is the only dance you'll ever regret, so keep the car running. Lets show them things they'll never forget.

8. Tongues

Maybe everythings alright. Maybe all the chairs are always spoken for. We got workers in back and the light is on their eyes but the sadness in your face is beside you with a grin. You've mistaken all the homes and inspirations for the cage. How was I supposed to know that we were never meant for this? You're the reason we already know and I believe you can call this weekend-mission: success, but there's a scratch across the lens.

We cataloged all our fears that you treasured and you hoped was here to stay. This is the cut of the director and we got scenes out of our way. When there's a scratch across the lens, all is lost. Hey, wait... we hold our breath as we pass everyone sleeping.

9. And

Maybe I should speak. We can count our blessings in the rain.
Talking is so cheap, save the parlor tricks, count your money alone.
Holding on to the free. I want to show you all what I mean. careful what you say And never underestimate the wait. I know you hear the songs that we could sing but do not stay. I hope you know the change. I love the change and now we got the change, we make the song sound like what we want. Who am I to tell you what is wrong? Talking is so cheap, so save the politics, you can never get rid of me. I tell you everything, I write it down. (Whats the destination?) Well, I sew my body to yours so that I can speak but my serpent-hands are holding me, but, my razor tongue will fix it all away. It might be two dimensional, but the story is great. I sew my body to yours so as I can see the lovers in the front row and all the ghosts in the back seat. I sew my body to yours, so as I am free. There's two versions of my fate... and so we shall see. Put me in the dirt.

10. Cheek

I found the answer... open your hands.
Reach out, distance enough, and fair maiden in hand,
All in all, we ain't... But, we press on!

I'm sorry, but I don't want to be an emperor. That's not my business. I don't want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone if possible; Jew, Gentile, black man, white. We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that. We want to live by each others happiness, not by each others misery. We don't want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone, and the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone. The way of life can be free and beautiful, but we have lost the way. Greed has poisoned men's souls, has barricaded the world with hate, has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in. Machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical; our cleverness, hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery, we need humanity. More than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost. The airplane and the radio have brought us closer together. The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in men; cries out for universal brotherhood; for the unity of us all. Even now my voice is reaching millions throughout the world, millions of despairing men, women, and little children, victims of a system that makes men torture and imprison innocent people. To those who can hear me, I say, do not despair. The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed, the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people. And so long as men die, liberty will never perish. Soldiers! Don't give yourselves to brutes, men who despise you, enslave you; who regiment your lives, tell you what to do, what to think and what to feel! Who drill you, diet you, treat you like cattle, use you as cannon fodder. Don't give yourselves to these unnatural men - machine men with machine minds and machine hearts! You are not machines, you are not cattle, you are men! You have the love of humanity in your hearts! You don't hate! Only the unloved hate; the unloved and the unnatural. Soldiers! Don't fight for slavery! Fight for liberty! In the seventeenth chapter of St. Luke, it is written that the kingdom of God is within man, not one man nor a group of men, but in all men! In you! You, the people, have the power, the power to create machines, the power to create happiness! You, the people, have the power to make this life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure. Then in the name of democracy, let us use that power. Let us all unite. Let us fight for a new world, a decent world that will give men a chance to work, that will give youth a future and old age a security. By the promise of these things, brutes have risen to power. But they lie! They do not fulfill that promise. They never will! Dictators free themselves but they enslave the people. Now let us fight to fulfill that promise. Let us fight to free the world! To do away with national barriers! To do away with greed, with hate and intolerance! Let us fight for a world of reason, a world where science and progress will lead to all men's happiness. Soldiers, in the name of democracy, let us all unite!

Don't set the sun or let hearts grow dim. Return back to the hill that you left, with the city in your hands and if nothings left, well, the forest marches on. Forget not who you are. Children of the sun. My point is,
salt is on the ground,
the cast are on their way,
and the audience is set.
Now that we have painted faith, shout, 'Victory is ours!'

[monologue by Charlie Chaplin from The Great Dictator]
