1. Livin' Lightly

I just thought I'd write a song
To tell you all the way I feel
But it ain't no big deal
I just thought I'd lay it down
And try my best to keep it real
Like a little Neil...Young

And I hope it makes you feel just a little lazy
Like you could take a little time and lay your crazy down

Maybe we could rest a while and do
Only what we really like to do
Livin' lightly, livin' lightly
Maybe we can hang out with some friends
Take some time to learn to laugh and love again
Livin' lightly, livin' lightly now

I just thought I'd write a song
To make you feel like you're on vacation
Ridin' out of the station
Like when you check into your room
And you know you got the whole week to do nothin'
And you lay down just feelin' so good

And I hope it makes you feel just a little groovy
Like we're livin' in an old-time movie now

Maybe we could rest a while and do
Only what we really like to do
Livin' lightly, livin' lightly
Maybe we can hang out with some friends
Take some time to learn to laugh and love again
Livin' lightly, livin' lightly now

Oh baby, talk with me a while
We can take a walk in the mornin'
Have coffee for two, me and you
You could light up the whole world with that smile
Come on honey child
There's nothin' but blue skies in our worldview

I just thought I'd write a song
And try my best to keep it simple
Keep the crashes on the cymbal down

Maybe we could rest a while and do
Only what we really like to do
Livin' lightly, livin' lightly
Maybe we can hang out with some friends
Take some time to learn to laugh and love again
Livin' lightly, livin' lightly now
Livin' lightly, livin' lightly now
Livin' lightly

2. Good Love Is On The Way

She's all alone in the city
The girl with the dull surprise
He's tryin' to make his music come alive
She's the beauty barista
He's the corny cashier
They'd both like to make their memories disappear

And hey, hey, hey
She feels so good today
And hey, hey, hey
Good love is on the way
Good love is on the way

He's got his man bun workin'
She's like a paper doll
She sees the flyer for his next gig on the wall

And hey, hey, hey
She feels so good today
And hey, hey, hey
Good love is on the way
Good love is on the way

Checkered past holiday
Candy colored yesterday
Now it's like a long cool ride
Summer's spent, winter's gone
Sunday mornin' comin' on
Something good is on the rise

Checkered past holiday
Candy colored yesterday
Now it's like a long cool ride
Summer's spent, winter's gone
Sunday mornin' comin' on
Better days are just outside
Let's take a ride...

She's all alone in the city
But this day could change her life
Something is comin' that'll set the whole thing right

And hey, hey, hey
She feels so good today
And hey, hey, hey
Good love is on the way

And hey, hey, hey
She feels so good today
And hey, hey, hey
Good love is on the way
Good love is on the way

3. JoAnna

I've been lost in a cloud of "remember when"
Life was up on the timberline where we'd been
There's a place that I go and I don't always know
If it's dusk or dawn
And I wish you were her just to hear what I hear
'Cause I miss your song

JoAnna, I thought it was me you would give your life to
JoAnna, I'll always believe that one day I'll find you
There's a song in my soul
Only you and me know
And it's playing on
Sometimes it's quiet
I try to deny it
But still my heart sings for JoAnna

I do the best that I can through my humdrum day
I try to be everywhere I am, but you take me away
And I wish I could change and not feel so strange
But I'm in the cloud
And I try hard to file it away where I hide
What I can't say out loud

JoAnna, I thought it was me you would give your life to
JoAnna, I'll always believe that one day I'll find you
There's a song in my soul
Only you and me know
And it's playing on
Sometimes it's quiet
I try to deny it
But still my heart sings for JoAnna

I've hoped and I've prayed you would know
But I've made it so hard
JoAnna – I fear that it's true it will always be you in my heart

JoAnna, I thought it was me you would give your life to
JoAnna, I'll always believe that one day I'll find you
There's a place we can go
Where we won't always know
If it's dusk or dawn
We have a song that is timeless
You left it in silence
But still my heart sings for JoAnna

4. Selfie In The Square

I got a day off in Luxembourg
I think I'll take a walk around
And even though I'm lonely
I'll walk my blues away
The stores are open, the pastry shops
Glistening red and sweet
And all the people working
It's just a normal day

But you would have made it like a holiday
I miss your laugh, I miss your mood, I miss your spicy attitude
And we could have coffee at a sidewalk café
But you're not here, you're way out there
So I'll take a selfie in the square and post to you

Cathedral bells are ringing now
Singing of time gone by
And all the children playing
Just like they always have
In the square by the grand hotel
People have brought their wares
And there are bright flowers yellow
It's just a normal day

But you would have made it like a holiday
I miss your laugh, I miss your mood, I miss your spicy attitude
And we could have coffee at a sidewalk café
But you're not here, you're way out there
So I'll take a selfie in the square and post to you

You would have loved it here today
In its perfect providential way
And my heart just longs to share
The timeless time, the selfie in the square

But you would have made it like a holiday
I miss your laugh, I miss your mood, I miss your spicy attitude
And we could have coffee at a sidewalk café
But you're not here, you're way out there
So I'll take a selfie in the square and post to you

Yeah, you're not here, you're way out there
This song is my selfie in the square to post you

I got a day off in Luxembourg...

5. He Died At Home

William always wanted to be a soldier
"Army men were his favorite toys," tells his mother
He was going to be the hero of the story
Live with honor or die in a blaze of glory
So he joined when he was seventeen
Kissed his mom goodbye
She wept as she packed his duffel bag
With notes of love and pride
She'd never guess six years from then
Tortured and alone
William wouldn't die in fields unknown
He died at home

He loved the army, it's all he ever wanted
To serve his country and look death in the face undaunted
But after a couple of tours, the fire in him died
You can't watch friends be killed and stay the same inside
He told his mom "you'd hate me
If you knew the things I've done"
"I will never hate you
You are my beloved son"
He said, "no mom, the son you loved
Died somewhere over there"
But William didn't die in the combat zone
He died at home

He came back ill at ease with civilians
His mother woke to screaming – it was William's
The army shrugged and gave him more prescriptions
As William's mind grew more and more distant

Before he died he told his mom
"Don't bury me in my uniform
No military funeral
That's for some who gave their all"
One night he shot the soldier dead
To kill the voices in his head
They gathered at the weekly wake
They have at every army base
'Cause more will die by their own hand
Than fall in any foreign land
They covered William in the flag
But there was not a boast or brag
When asked how soldier William died
No one mentions suicide

The cause of death is hard to say out loud
The soldier who once stood so strong and proud
His mother looks away and simply moans
He died at home

6. She's Changed Her Mind

The girl that I love is a little bit flighty
She does what she wants; she's the headstrong kind
We were together but she took a break from me
And I've been awaiting a change of the tide

But she's changed her mind again
She's changed and now she says she loves me
She's changed her mind again
I gave her some time to work it out
She says there isn't any doubt now
She's in love with me

When we're together, love is like lightning
She's pretty and deep as a wishing well
She loves adventure and all that's exciting
And I haven't breathed since she left for a spell

But she's changed her mind again
She's changed and now she says she loves me
She's changed her mind again
I gave her some time to work things out
She says there isn't any doubt now
She's in love with me

I live to love her, but she changes everyday
Wouldn't be much fun if she was any other way, hey hey hey

Now I'm just hoping this is the last time
To love is to risk, especially with this girl...

But she's changed her mind again
She's changed and now she says she loves me
She's changed her mind again
I gave her some time to think it out
Oh, she's changed her mind again
She's changed her mind and now she says she loves me
She's changed her mind again
I gave her some time to work it out
She says there isn't any doubt now
She's in love with me

7. Wave On The Ocean

You make me feel, you make me feel
Like a wave on the ocean, a wave on the ocean
In the summertime
You make me feel, you make me feel
Like a wave on the ocean, a wave on the ocean
In the summertime

You make me feel so alive
Like somehow I'm in the right place, right time
Let's get into my car and just drive
'Cause every place we go will have this feeling
Because of what I'm feelin' right now

You make me feel, you make me feel
Like a wave on the ocean, a wave on the ocean
In the summertime
You make me feel, you make me feel
Like a wave on the ocean, a wave on the ocean
In the summertime

There's so much more I don't know
But you are like a jewel in a fountain
Let's take the coast to San Francisco
Or we can just hang out in the harbor
It doesn't really matter because...

You make me feel, you make me feel
Like a wave on the ocean, a wave on the ocean
In the summertime
You make me feel, you make me feel
Like a wave on the ocean, a wave on the ocean
In the summertime

Man, I can feel it!
A love that feels so free
And it's keeping me alive
Man, I can feel it!
A love that feels so free
And it's keeping me alive

You make me feel, you make me feel
Like a wave on the ocean, a wave on the ocean
In the summertime
You make me feel, you make me feel
Like a wave on the ocean, a wave on the ocean
In the summertime

Man, I can feel it!
A love that feels so free
And it's keeping me alive
Man, I can feel it!
A love that feels so free
And it's keeping me alive

'Cause your love is like an ocean

8. You + Me + Everything

Once upon a time I walked upon this land alone
Livin' like a lonely stranger lookin' for a home
Then in revelry your melody began to sing
Back when it was only you and me and everything

It was only you and me and everything
Pourin' down like water
It was only you and me and everything
God loves His sons and daughters
We were so happy havin' nothing
We only had each other
And the song we'd sing
Back when it was only you and me and everything

We still talk about the good old days in the cubby hole
Me, a broken-down musician with a zero cash flow
You a 30 something, single mom whose eyes were sad
I loved you and I loved your son, thought maybe I could be his dad

It was only you and me and everything
Pourin' down like water
It was only you and me and everything
God loves His sons and daughters
We were so happy havin' nothing
We only had each other
And the song we'd sing
Back when it was only you and me and everything

Pourin' down like water
Sleepin' on a broken spring
Love was flowing over
Just you and me and everything
You and me and everything

It was only you and me and everything
Pourin' down like water
It was only you and me and everything
God loves His sons and daughters
We were so happy havin' nothing
Babe, we only had each other
And the song we'd sing
Back when it was only you and me

They were the best years I'd seen
Back when it was only you and me and everything

9. Manchester

Are you feelin' like the underdog?
Like every day's stuck on repeat?
Come and sing a different song
On the sunny side of Oxford Street

In Manchester by the sea
How long will you wait for me?
Let's ride the magic bus again
Or maybe take the midland train to
Manchester by the sea
A revolution's happening to me
Right here in Manchester by the sea

Girlfriends hug at the coffee shop
There's every type of person walking by
It's a perfect day full stop
There's even a smile on the traffic cop

In Manchester by the sea
How long will you wait for me?
Let's ride the magic bus again
Or maybe take the midland train to
Manchester by the sea
A revolution's happening to me
Right here in Manchester by the sea

I'm givin' all my love away
Fillin' up, I'm fillin' up
I'm givin' all my love away
Fillin' up, I'm fillin' up
I'm givin' all my love away
Fillin' up, right here in Manchester by the bay

"So I was just a little confused when I was writing this song, but my friend from the UK straightened me out."

As I'm walkin' 'round the town
Singin' this new song I've found
My friend comes and breaks my flow
Says "Hey man, now don't you know that
Manchester's got no sea
That's just some bad geography
This Manchester's got no bay
That's the one in the USA"

No, Manchester's got no sea
But somehow it feels good to me
Let's ride the magic bus again
Or maybe take the midland train to
Manchester proud and free
A revolution's happening to me
Right here in Manchester NOT by the sea

10. Lay Low

Drivin' in the rain
In the take it easy lane
I might go to Maine or maybe California
Passin' through Ft. Wayne
Thinkin' bout what I became
So busy in mind the great achiever
I just had to take some time and take a breather

And I'm gonna lay low for a while
Step out of the system
I'm gonna go find that miracle mile
I'm gonna lay low for a while
Head out on the highway of my soul
I'm gonna lay low
I'm gonna lay low
Baby, do you want to go?

My list for every week
How I love to press delete
I'm sure the world will be
Just fine without me
I gave up all my control
And my old rock `n' roll
The things I thought I'd need, well, I don't need `em
It's what we give for free that gives us freedom

And I'm gonna lay low for a while
Step out of the system
I'm gonna go find that miracle mile
I'm gonna lay low for a while
Head out on the highway of my soul
I'm gonna lay low
I'm gonna lay low
Baby, do you want to go?

We're way off the grid now
We got our status hid now
All we need to pay's the highway toll
I've got no chains to bind me
I left it far behind me
Chuck all that machinery down the hole
And I'm gonna lay low
I'm gonna lay low

And I'm gonna lay low for a while
Step out of the system
I'm gonna go find that miracle mile
I'm gonna lay low for a while
Head out on the highway of my soul
I'm gonna lay low
I'm gonna lay low
Baby, do you want to go?

11. Old Alabama

Got a postcard
Picture perfect
Of a time and place
That I once called home
That I once called home

Familiar skies and
Blue skies for miles
And as I looked at the picture it spoke to me
Said "come on home now, come on home"

Headed down to old Alabama
Hope it won't take too long
'Cause I got friends in old Alabama
That's where I belong

They got love there and it don't matter
If you change your address, it's still in your bones
They don't give a damn about telephones
Fixed interest loans or fancy homes
I don't know why I don't hardly go there
And I don't know why my life has a hold on me
But when the day comes that I'm finally free
You know that I will be

Headed down to old Alabama
Hope it won't take too long
'Cause I got friends in old Alabama
That's where I belong

And when they finally lay me down
And I'm heaven bound
Please don't bury me in this cold town
Take me down

Take me down to old Alabama
Know it won't take too long
'Cause I got friends in old Alabama
That's where I belong

Take me down to old Alabama

12. If I Only Had a Day

If I only had a year to live
I'd sell my junk for what I could get
And have myself a time or two
If I only had a year to live
We'd ride off into a fine sunset
And fall in love, just me and you
I'd take some time with my sons and my daughter
Try to impart
The best of my heart
If I only had a year to live
Doo doo doo doo doo...

If I only had a month to live
What would I do? That's tough I guess...
It wouldn't leave much time to sail away
I'd try to write that song that sums it up in fifty words or less
And says everything I couldn't say
I'd make things right, make that call to my brother
The one I don't see
Ask him to forgive me
If I only had a month to live
Doo doo doo doo doo...

If I only had one week left
I'd give that kid my fine drum set
And hope he'd practice somewhere far
I'd be tellin' everyone I can how Jesus saved this lonely man
His love can change the saddest heart
I'd wrap my arms around my wife and my family
Love 'em out loud
Tell 'em how proud I am
If I only had a week to live
Doo doo doo doo doo...

If I only had a day to live
What would I do? I shake my head
What if I only had today?
There ain't no way I could do it all
But I think that I could make that call
And pass along some love along the way

'Cause no one here is promised tomorrow
Each day is the first
Or your last day on earth
If I only had a year to live
Doo doo doo doo doo...
If I only had a month to live
Doo doo doo doo doo...
If I only had a day to live
Doo doo doo doo doo...
