BENN LYRICS

1. The Incisions

'Are you listening?'

Pray to me, pray to me.
Pray for me, everything I am is just a fantasy.
You and I both know that this is all I need.
Time is drawing closer to the day we meet.
Day we meet.

And I'm cutting deep,
I, I, I, I, I know we're cutting through the enemies.
I, I, I, I, I fear they'll come until the end of days,
I, I, I, I, I hear them dying through the arrow waves, arrow waves.

Pray for me, unable to stem the sounds surrounding me,
Nothing like the ending you expect to see,
Your lack of imagination; comforts me, comforts me.

And I'm cutting deep,
I, I, I, I, I know we're cutting through the enemies.
I, I, I, I, I fear they'll come until the end of days,
I, I, I, I, I hear them dying through the arrow waves, arrow waves.

Cutting deep,
Painfully,
Cutting deep,
Plain to see.

Pray for me, as I sit here lonelily,
As I hold your majesty,
As I sit here lonelily,
As I hold the only.

2. Evermore

I'm here by your side, as you stare at the fire.
Listen, to my voice, you are fed, by the liars.
Searching, through the ruins of the life we aspired.

I'll, never let go, now I see who controls you.
They, murder the world, and obey only fortune.
Searching, through the ruins of the life we abandoned.

I can see, the worst you'll be,
I'm haunting you, evermore.
Poisoned to the core.
I can't leave, lest pull the need,
I'll out the men we abhor.

They'll never leave you alone,
They'll never leave you alone (never leave)
They'll never leave you alone.
They will not rest until they have found power in everything
They'll never leave you alone (never leave)
They'll never leave you alone (never leave)
They'll never leave you alone.
They will not rest until they have found power in everything

I can see, the worst you'll be,
I'm haunting you, evermore.
Poisoned to the core.
I can't leave, lest pull the need,
I'll out the men we abhor.
Searching through the ruins of,
Through the ruins of our love.
Searching through the ruins of,
Through the ruins of our love.
Poisoning the core.

3. The Book Speaks

'The book speaks of a man, who called himself king.
Although even from my initial research it appears as though he had no right to carry the title.
You see, when we pick up the writings in the book, his subjects are already totally disillusioned by his rule.
Their king had not only failed them, he had betrayed them.
Even before the attack, his people were starving.
On the day of the attack, he barricaded himself in the main hall and waited for the cries of his people to cease before sending his Canon to witness the results of the carnage.
It appears as though Sarum isn't what we thought it was.
It's far older. And its shape and purpose are only now coming to light.
This is where they began, Henry. It all started here.'
[Jennifer Parker]

4. Thirty One Down

[Instrumental]

5. Home

Bury me, far away.
Oh in the ground now I'm save.
Take me there,
Take my soul,
Oh in the ground now I'm home.

Silence, silence,
Oh please be quiet,
'Cause they split my head open and then they,
They filled it with lies,
No I won't, no I can't,
Choose between, the dark and the darkness in me.

So bury me, take my soul,
Oh in the ground now I'm home.
Take me there,
Far away.
In the ground now I'm afraid.

Silence, silence,
Oh please be quiet,
'Cause they split my head open and then they,
They filled it with lies,
No I won't, no I can't,
Choose between, the dark and the darkness in me.

6. Into Dreams

Bring me your light and I'll trade you my dark,
Secrets and lies; fabrications of heart.
We feel so small when we look to the stars.
We pick out stars that we'd like to die on.

Hoping, praying to the stars,
Can't you see how wondrous we are?
And you're somewhere down there,
Can't climb up.

And you were my King and I was your Queen,
And we ruled a world; poorer than poorer can be.
But I smiled when I died.
Safe in the knowledge the life that I left was a lie.

Oh it's not fair we allow them to live,
They never once thought of us as their kin.
All of them wait on the edge of the hill,
Poisonous statues, succumb to the winds.

It's only a dream.

And I am your King,
And I am your King, and you were my Queen,
And we ruled the world; darker than darker could be.
(Is this just a dream?)

7. Days After

'Days after the attack, the remnants of his subjects, who had fled to hide in the forest, returned to Sarum, to see what remained.
When they realized that all was gone, they collected their families and belongings to leave, so that they may beg entry to neighboring settlements.
When the King received word, that his subjects were leaving, he asked his Canon to meet them at the entrance, where they were passed food for the journey as an offering of peace.
The subjects took the offerings and left.
No words were spoken.'
[Jennifer Parker]

8. Empty Chair

Hold, holding yourself, oh for a while,
I'm longing to die like this.
Don't look for the end, before your time,
I long just to die like this.
I, I push a pin into your lungs.
I'm willing to die like this.
I, I'll be alone, oh when I'm done.
I'll willingly die like this.

I, I was alone until you shone your light and,
Covered my empty soul,
I, I was alone until you pulled me down and,
Showed me the world I own.

Hold me tightly,
Make this right.
Say you love me,
Cease your cry.
I will hold you down.

Bury the light and I'll see you again,
Smother your mouth as you signal for air.
Bury the light and I'll see you again while you,
Smother your mouth as you signal for air.

Hold me tightly,
Cease your crying.
Say you fell in love with me and save yourself.

How did I know?

Bury the light and I'll see you again,
Smother your mouth as you struggle for air.
Bury the light and I'll see you again,
Burying, and burying, and burying, and bury the end.

9. Eyes on The King

What would he do if he thought you'd abandoned him,
What would he think if he knew?
What would he say if he heard you dishonor him,
What would he say if he knew?

Then what do you do when your life is an alibi,
Which of your paths do you choose?
And what do you do when your world is a fucking lie,
Which of your lives stand to lose?

I'm holding, holding onto everything that hurts me,
Hurts me again,
Drowning, drowning in a sea of angels, knowing the end.

And it's all eyes on the King,
Tell me who's the enemy,
With all eyes on the King.
(No I am not the me I am)
All eyes on the King,
Tell me who's the enemy,
With all eyes on the King.
(King, King)

What will he do, when he hears of your insolence,
What do you think he would do?
What will he do when he feels you cut into him?
One to de-throne him in two.

What do you do when your life is an alibi,
Which of your paths do you choose?
And what do you do when your world is a fucking lie,
Which of your lives stands to lose?

I'm holding, holding onto everything that hurts me,
Hurts me again,
Drowning, drowning in a sea of angels, knowing the end.

And it's all eyes on the King,
Tell me who's the enemy,
With all eyes on the King.
(No I am not the me I am)
All eyes on the King,
Tell me who's the enemy,
With all eyes on the King.
(King, King)

(Holding)
Holding on to everything that (hurts me) hurts me again,
Drowning, drowning in a sea of angels, knowing the end.
The end.

10. The King

'The King spent many months in turmoil, his reign was over.
His expectant wife and child murdered in their sleep by shadowy figures.
And his people, abandoned.
He spent his days in the company of his Canon, fractured old men, whose complex talk of revenge and distasteful obsession with the dark, left stains on his mind.
Stains, he could not remove.
Months went by and the King, full of contempt for anyone living outside of Sarums walls, had a plan.
He motioned to an adviser to come closer, the gaunt old man slowly drifted forwards and pressed his ear close to the King.
The King whispered his final instructions and sat back in his chair.
His Canon conferred and turned to thank their king.
This would be the last time they would meet his gaze.
From this moment on, their King refused all food and water.
And waited. And waited.'
[Jennifer Parker]

11. Cold Dead Crows IV

12. A Fire in Atlantis

Let go of everything, everything,
Let go of everything, everything, let go of sin.

When we ask for sun, he gives us rain,
(Let go of everything and I, let go of everything, everything.)
And we ask for guidance now and he refrains.
(Let go of everything and I, let go of everything, everything.)
But we see him when we close our eyes and he knows what's at stake.
We can't help but feel the future is to blame.

I'm drowning. And we only serve the withered man.
Drowning, for his silence and his callous hand.
Drowning, Choking, Almost, Breathing.
While I'm setting stones.
I'm drowning, and we only serve the withered man.
I die alone in the end.

And he asks for love and he teaches us with pain.
(Let go of everything and I, let go of everything, everything.)
I could say the prayers, but they don't feel the same
(Let go of everything and I, let go of everything, everything.)
And I know this man, he looks like me but he knows things I don't.
I'm afraid this man was sent to cast the stones.
I die alone in the end.

I'm drowning. And we only serve the withered man.
Drowning. He will lead us from this hellish land.
Drowning, Choking, Almost, Breathing. While I'm setting stones.

(I'm drowning, I'm drowning, oh I drown. I drown.)

And we only serve the withered…
All the chains in hell couldn't hold me down,
Yeah as they try to hold my fucking crown.
And we only serve the withered man.
All the chains in hell couldn't hold me down,
Yeah as they try to hold my fucking crown.
(Drowning.)
He will lead us from this hellish land.
Drowning, Choking, Almost, Breathing.
Drowning. And we only serve the withered man.
I die alone in the end.

13. The Cannon

'The Canon had been busy, their chambers were dank, dark, and inches of sandy dust covered the floor.
In front of them laid their work; piles and piles of heavy circular stones,
Coated with an unknown blue liquid.
Over the next few weeks, they slowly rolled the stones to the entrance,
And loaded them onto a wagon.
From here, they rode through the night, to the neighboring settlements, passing the decaying remains of the settlers, that had naively accepted their poisoned gifts.
When they arrived, they laid stones around the perimeter, and carefully poured a dark liquid on top of each, before scurrying away to lay the next.
In a matter of minutes, they could hear the coughs begin.
The wind direction was not an issue, now that the towns and settlements were surrounded.
As they rode their wagon away, they stopped to listen.
The screams of men, women and children alike, helped crack smiles on the weary faces of the Canon.
They rode on.'
[Jennifer Parker]

14. Typewriters

There is nothing left for us to say,
In-comprehensively we change.
Can you remember?
Rapidly the hope-loss it takes control,
And colour runs out and leaves us cold.
Can you remember?

Can you remember me my love?
Can you forget what you've become?
Can you remember me my love?
Can you forget what you've become?

I have tried so hard just to signal,
You can't see or hear me it's painful.
Can you remember?
In this moment I am a lost soul,
I wish you could join me in this cold.
Can you remember?

15. The Coffin of Phillipe Auguste

Bring your dead and parade, parade,
Murder and offer the kinship,
Bring out your offer, parade, parade.
Sacrificially consistent.
I punish myself until I travel down,
Nothing has ever felt real.
I ruin the world until I travel down,
Know that I'll bring a parade.
I'm killing to see you, oh I travel down,
All that I could have stained.

How does it feel to see me again?
Have and to hold the withered hand.
Can you begin to hear me again?
Killing the boy and murder the man.
I let go of the world I witnessed.
(I don't believe anything that you're telling me)

And I would hold myself to ransom,
But I don't think you'd pay to set me free.
Plaguing, plaguing.
From this broken heart I leak.
And I would hold myself to ransom,
But I don't think you'd pay to set me free.
Plaguing, plaguing.
All these future memories.

16. Hidden Inside

I'm not alone now, I'm not alone, alone.
I've been so helpless, can't even breathe now, buried alive, by light.
And I can't even help myself, can't even right my wrongs, all I've done, everything's false.
So help me, I need your help to see.
And I know everything.
Comes and pulls me; down the grave.
Your hands they guide me to my rest.
And your eyes, are blinding I cannot see.
And your light is blinding I won't concede.
And I know your light is fictional.
It's alright, your secret's safe tonight,
And we survive by candlelight.

17. The Burial of Almora

And I would hold myself to ransom,
But I don't think you'd pay to set me free.
Plaguing, plaguing.
All these future memories.
And I would hold myself to ransom,
But I don't think you'd pay to set me free.
Plaguing, plaguing.
From this broken heart I leak.

I made up this story to ruin your life,
Nothing could feel quite so sweet.
I'm broken and buried now under the lake,
Everything, lies in deceit.

18. Until

'It wasn't until 4:29, that Vortigern turned his eyes to the castle, and to the remnants of the kings Canon.
Now feeble old men, they quickly realized that their existence would be reduced to dust in minutes, of a breach of the castle's walls.
But this didn't stop them. They did not mournfully bury their work, they did not cease their cause, no.

Instead, they moved their research plans into the sealed palaces, that were their minds, leaving no evidence behind.
When the conqueror arrived, the old men, whose plans had rid the world off so many lives, hid themselves in plain sight.
It had been decades since the last balls were flung over the walls.
Years, since the crows had fed, during the great escalations.
It was the summer, settlers had claimed the futile lands as farms, and the fields surrounding the castle were laden with crops.
As the walls were too high to mantle, and the gates were pitch black, the settlers didn't realize that the castle was occupied, at least, not until it was too late.

Every night, a member of the kings Canon would climb to the highest tower, and would stare out into the darkness.
They were waiting for this moment. In the distance, a member saw the vague flickers and glows of orange light, coming from the fog. They were coming.

He ran to the under-croft, and informed the others of the impending plight.
The men were prepared. They left their belongings, walked up the steps from the under-croft, and set foot into the grand hall.
Together, they lifted a large stone slab, and placed it over the entrance to their quarters, sealing it with rudimentary mortar.
For the first time in years, they laid their eyes on the king, who appeared to be almost vanished.
His crown almost resting on the seat of the throne.

In the shadows of the night, the men walked down the secret tunnels, and descended onto the fields.
One by one, they entered the homes of the farmers, and quietly murdered anyone they found.

When the army arrived, they were persuaded to allow the farmers to stay, to tend their fields.

It's how they survived, Henry.
It's how they're still here now, generations later.
Still loyal to the king they never knew.'
[Jennifer Parker]

19. Almost Vanished

But what if we're wrong?
And we didn't understand, that everything we are is somewhat planned.
This hallway feels so long, now that you are gone.
The miracles have stopped, no furthering the soul.
But was I good enough for this to be real?
Because I can't understand these things I feel.
And I was better then, left with nothing now,
Yet underneath the lake, your light is pouring out.

And if only I could recognise your face.
Because without you by my side it's not the same.
And I'm almost vanished now.

You take all that I know, and took away the ends; I feel so cold.
And there is nothing left, for you to feed upon, so fly back to your nests and leave this ghost alone,
Because I have seen some things that I don't understand,
And I believe the future now is planned.
But the lake has frozen o'er.
And the trees are bending down, the clouds are burning up;
And the water's calling out. And I should say that;

There are things I should have seen,
But I was blinded by the light,
And I was only looking forwards,
But I never looked to my side,
I with I could trade our places,
I was meant for hell,
And I have never felt as though
I understand a single piece of this world.
Before you left me, I was proud,
And I was angry, I was whole,
I wasn't able to protect the only ones that I love,
How am I supposed to try and rectify the damage, as I suffocate,
My lungs they're slowly failing as they run out of air.

20. Indivisible

And there is nothing left to hear except the silence.
The birds refuse to sing but stand here in defiance.
And I can see my actions burned this world, it's pious.
And I'm divisible, I'm divisible.
And there is nothing left for me to say but sorry,
Believing everything that's spoken of so blindly.
And I have found the man I've come to fear inside me,
And I'm divisible, I'm divisible.
And I.

I have drawn a line in sands I'll never need.
A broken heart has led to hope, loss and defeat.
And I'm divisible, I'm divisible.

And I can see the world is fading now it's dying.
A lone example of a total lack of trying.
And there is nothing left for me to say but sorry.
And I'm divisible, I'm divisible.
And I have broken myself into two, I'm trying,
A door without a key and I am locked inside it.
A tiny opening above my head is closing now,
And I'm divisible, I'm divisible.
And I.

I can see the light of day again it's blinding.
A world of flame will soon return to ash, it's trying.
And I'm divisible, I'm divisible.
(And I am holding on)
And I am holding on,
And I am holding on,
And there is nothing I won't do.

And we are witness to the sun as it is rising,
The lows, the highs, the keys, the doors, the grand designing.
We're indivisible, indivisible and I,
I have lost myself in waves and rays so silent,
My heart is beating twice as fast and this makes no sense.
We're indivisible, indivisible and I.
